Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre

ABOUT US

Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, grassroots organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We are based in Redfern, Sydney and work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation.

Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence and systemic disadvantage. We do this by providing material aid, case management, biopsychosocial support, accommodation, and crisis responses. Equally we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities with communities and private and public entities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender based violence in a generation.

THE ROLE

Following an internal promotion, WAGEC is looking for our new Deputy CEO. The Deputy CEO is responsible for delivering and operationalising WAGEC’s vision: A safe future for women and families by ending gender-based violence in a generation.

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the WAGEC Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board of Management, the role of the Deputy CEO has a focus on WAGEC’s one-year horizon, and the successful delivery of quality client services and business operations.

The Deputy CEO oversees two key program areas, Client Services and Quality and Impact, and is responsible for incorporating new business and growth opportunities into WAGEC’s business-as-usual. The Deputy CEO provides direct management of the Director of Client Services, the Director of Quality and Impact and the Executive Assistant. This is a hands-on role, with active oversight across WAGEC’s 6 sites in inner Sydney and the greater inner west.

  • Operational management of quality, accredited client services and business operations
  • Drive and model an inclusive team culture and communicate WAGEC’s strategic and operational plans for internal and external stakeholders
  • Help to identify, drive and resource growth opportunities for business and staff development, increasing impact for WAGEC clients
  • Actively promote WAGEC’s purpose, brand and reputation and drive positive engagements with the government and community sectors.

ABOUT YOU
