We are searching for a highly skilled, values-aligned Executive to join our committed and experienced team.

The Executive Director of Finance and Organisational Performance is a strategic executive leadership role responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, and organisational performance of the organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board, Executive Team, and key stakeholders, the position provides leadership across financial management, property and assets portfolio, strategic planning and organisational sustainability.

The role is accountable for developing and implementing financial strategies that support the organisation's mission, growth, and long-term sustainability while ensuring compliance with regulatory, funding, and governance requirements. The Executive Director leads the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of organisational performance frameworks, enabling evidence-based decision-making and ensuring a sustainable future. This role provides oversight and management of assets, property portfolio, ICT, system administration, insurance, contractors and leases

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Executive Director of Finance and Organisational Performance contributes to strategic planning, organisational development, and resource optimisation to maximise community impact and value for stakeholders. The position plays a critical role in strengthening organisational capability, supporting sustainable growth, and ensuring that financial stewardship and performance outcomes align with the organisation's vision, values, mission and strategic objectives.

This role can be based in either Launceston or Hobart, some travel intrastate will be required to support our statewide footprint.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with CPA, CA, or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrated management accounting experience.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting standards, tax-exempt requirements and regulatory compliance; ideally across the not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong background in financial controls, compliance and risk management.
  • Not-for-profit experience and knowledge would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven capacity to oversee all IT, property, assets and maintenance, insurance, financial, accounting and payroll functions.
  • Ability to lead the organisation in adherence to Australian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements.
  • Experience in applying strategic management principles whilst focusing on sustainability.
  • Ensure the integrity and reporting of Society statutory, regulatory, management and taxation obligations, and respond to recommendations made as a result of external audit processes.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining organisational wide financial models, annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Ability to confidently lead the annual budgeting cycle, monthly reporting and forecasting to ensure financial stability and strategic planning.
  • Substantial knowledge of all payroll processes, ensuring they meet legislative compliance requirements, whilst meeting established deadlines and enabling streamline processing.
  • With the support of the finance team, possess the aptitude to monitor, control and report on accurate financial information, including the annual budget, revenue, expenditure, tenders and acquittals to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in providing leadership of procurement, including identifying and securing efficiencies in organisational-wide purchasing, leasing and assets.
  • Knowledge and experience in the management of contracts, agreements, leases and MOU's, preferably in a collaborative team environment.
  • Sound experience in fostering collaboration across a broad organisation, engaging key stakeholders and developing high-performance teams aligned with strong values.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities, thinking ahead and identifying potential issues, while adopting a flexible approach as required.
  • Proven experience working within a strategic plan and identifying key goals.
  • Motivation to be part of the greater Society Team and collaborate appropriately.
  • Extensive communication skills and the ability to apply accordingly in all interactions.
  • Fundamentally, a can-do attitude and commitment to the values of St Vincent de Paul Society in achieving against our purpose.

The successful applicant must hold a current compliant National Police Check, along with a valid Working with Vulnerable People Card or the ability to obtain. You must also hold a Driver's Licence with no restrictions.
