Kara Family Violence Service (also known as Kara House Inc) is a specialist family violence service providing high security refuge and case management support, to victims of family violence in crisis accommodation and the community. We are a proudly feminist organisation, based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and work collaboratively with other services in the region.

About the Role

The Policy and Quality Officer position is responsible for developing, reviewing and maintaining documentation that ensures the human rights of clients, and supports the Kara FVS team to provide high quality support . The position includes a broad range of planning, quality assurance and improvement projects / activities associated with meeting DFFH, Family Safety Victoria and The Social Security Regulators standards and funding requirements and legislation to ensure best practice service delivery is implemented and maintained.

This role works collaboratively with Management to identify and implement actions and enhance organisational quality.

The position is part time, 38 hours per fortnight and based at our external office. Remote work may be incorporated after a qualifying period.

Reporting to the CEO and working collaboratively with team members, the successful candidate will receive competitive remuneration according to the SCHADS Award, the level dependent on experience, plus superannuation, access to salary packaging, training and professional development opportunities.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, Public Health policy, or quality related field or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Unrestricted Victorian Driver’s License and good driving record
  • A Police Record Check (including proof of identity)
  • International police check (if required)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Qualification check (original documents)
  • Pre-employment safety screening, including employment history and disclosure of previous or current disciplinary action
  • Referee checks, including most recent supervisor
  • Commitment to Child Safety and adherence to the Kara Family Violence Service Child Safety requirements
  • Commitment to professional development including, where appropriate, the education and support of students on placement
  • Ethical behaviour and adherence to the Kara Family Violence Service Code of Conduct
