The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer provides visionary, values-driven leadership across strategy, operations and culture. This is a rare opportunity to lead a purpose-led organisation with deep community roots, while influencing policy, service delivery models and sector collaboration at a regional level.
The organisation’s Strategic Plan sets a clear direction to strengthen safety, health and wellbeing across Central Queensland through gender equity. The CEO will play a critical leadership role in mobilising people, partnerships and systems to deliver this strategy; balancing high‑quality service delivery with advocacy, prevention and organisational capability to achieve meaningful, long‑term community impact.
You will balance strategic oversight with visible leadership, ensuring the organisation continues to deliver high-quality, trauma‑informed services while positioning itself for sustainable growth and long-term impact.
This is a full-time ongoing role.
About You
You are a credible, inclusive and purpose-led executive leader who brings both strategic strength and deep sector insight. You will bring:
- Proven executive leadership capability, with a strong track record of leading complex organisations, ideally within the not-for-profit, community, health or human services sectors.
- Senior leadership experience within the domestic and family violence sector, or a closely related women’s health, community or social impact environment, with a strong understanding of trauma‑informed, gender‑equitable practice.
- Demonstrated business and financial acumen, including experience overseeing budgets, operational plans and funding submissions and ensuring sound governance and compliance.
- Strategic leadership experience, including organisational growth, change management and continuous improvement across multiple services, programs or portfolios.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build meaningful partnerships across government, community, sector and funding bodies.
- Exceptional communication and influence, including confident public representation, consultation and advocacy at senior and sector-wide levels.
- People-centred leadership, with the ability to inspire, mentor and lead diverse teams in complex and sensitive service environments.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capability, with the ability to assess risk, identify opportunity and guide the organisation through complexity and change.
You will also ideally have:
- Clinical or practice‑based experience e.g. counselling, social work, psychology, community practice or related field.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- Postgraduate qualifications in management, public policy, public health or a related field.
- A proven track record as a Chief Executive Officer or senior executive within a relevant sector (5+ years).
