The Impact of the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Women's Community Shelters at an important stage in the growth of its Community Housing Provider capability.

Reporting to the Director of Housing, you will play a pivotal role in delivering WCS's strategic housing objectives by leading high-quality tenancy operations, housing asset management and Community Housing compliance.

Over the past year, WCS has significantly strengthened its housing operations and established the systems and frameworks that support its growing housing portfolio. Building on these strong foundations, you will bring your expertise to optimise asset management, provide strategic advice to the leadership team and contribute to the ongoing development of innovative housing solutions for women with and without children.

Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external Community Housing Providers, you will oversee tenancy and asset management, strengthen reporting and compliance, support major housing projects and help ensure WCS continues to deliver safe, sustainable housing outcomes. This six-month parental leave contract offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact within a highly collaborative and purpose-driven organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of tenancy and asset management policies, systems and operational processes
  • Managing housing assets, planned maintenance, lifecycle planning and capital works forecasting
  • Strengthening Community Housing Provider compliance, reporting and registration requirements
  • Managing contractors and suppliers, including procurement, performance monitoring and quality assurance
  • Driving high-quality tenancy management that reflects trauma-informed, gender-responsive practice
  • Supporting continuous improvement through quality systems, feedback and complaints management
  • Providing Community Housing expertise to support new housing initiatives, tenders and grant opportunities
  • Building strong relationships across government, Community Housing Providers and key sector stakeholders

About You

You are an experienced Community Housing professional with a strong understanding of Community Housing Provider legislation, compliance and tenancy management.

Collaborative and solutions-focused, you enjoy strengthening systems, improving operational performance and partnering with stakeholders to deliver safe, sustainable housing outcomes.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience within Community Housing, affordable housing or specialist homelessness services
  • Strong knowledge of Community Housing Provider compliance, reporting and legislative requirements
  • Understanding of asset management, tenancy management and property compliance, including WHS, fire safety, accessibility and environmental sustainability
  • Experience developing and embedding operational systems, policies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience managing contractors, procurement processes and supplier performance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience using SPM or a similar asset management system will be highly regarded
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence
  • Working With Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain
