ABOUT THIS ROLE

YWCA Australia is currently seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Women and Family Programs Team. This role is offered on a full time basis on a maximum term contract ending on 30 June 2023 and is based in Palmerston, NT.

The Domestic and Family Violence Centre supports families who are experiencing domestic and/or family violence with crisis accommodation, advocacy and support. The Support Worker assists the team to deliver accommodation and support services to clients and their children to move to housing, financial and emotional independence.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal applicant we are seeking will have:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds and linguistic needs.
  • Ability to provide strength-based support to others with case management tasks.
  • Ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with clients in order to assist them to identify their rights, needs, strengths and opportunities.
  • Experience undertaking a range of administrative duties, including maintaining detailed case files and recording program data.
  • Ability to develop co-operative working relationships with external agencies and providers to optimise client service delivery and referral as necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the legal and ethical responsibilities associated with working with clients in crisis including confidentiality, duty of care, relevant legislation and professional conduct.
  • Hold and maintain an NT Driver’s Licence, Criminal History Check, Senior First Aid Certificate and Working with Children (Ochre) Card.
  • Strong supporter of Women’s Rights and willing to push the boundaries.
  • Team player who is approachable with strong interpersonal and listening skills together with the ability to empower.
  • Results focused, self-motivated and a self-starter who goes above and beyond.
  • Doesn’t settle, strives for continues improvement and has a high level of integrity.

This position will require the applicant to satisfactorily complete a national criminal history record check and hold the relevant state based working with vulnerable persons permit prior to employment.
