Women in Super

about us

Women in Super (WIS) is the national peak body representing the voice of women in Australia’s superannuation system. WIS is seeking expressions of interest from women who are passionate about taking the lead in improving the security of women in retirement, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

WIS is a not-for-profit organisation that works to improve women’s retirement outcomes, by advocating for a super system void of gender-based inequality. We do this by working with Government, regulators, superannuation funds, industry service providers, unions and employer organisations to campaign for a fairer super system by representing the voice of women in superannuation.

In addition to advocating on behalf of women, we also provide our members with various professional development, networking, and career progression opportunities, including events, scholarship programs, and training.

The CEO position is an opportunity for a passionate person to bring their extensive organising, campaigning, strategy, and leadership skills to support achieving a more financially secure retirement for Australian women.

The CEO role

Reporting to the Board and working closely with the Chair, the CEO will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, projects, stakeholder engagement, member services and industry advocacy as well as development and execution of the Women in Super strategic plan.

Key responsibilities include leadership in areas of:

  • Staff management and development
  • Communication and public speaking
  • Delivering strong governance and financial management
  • Vision and strategic thinking
  • Policy, government and industry processes
  • Self-motivation, initiative and work-ethic, with demonstrated autonomy in previous roles

Current Status

The CEO role was vacated in October 2021 and temporary leadership arrangements are in place to guide the organisation through the recruitment and transition process for an incoming CEO. The organisation is supported by an experienced team and has been conducting business as usual with additional support from the volunteer Board throughout this period.

The Board is open to discussion on timeframes and support structures for a suitable candidate interested in taking on the role.

The Board envisages a commencement date in early February 2022.
