Western NSW Community Legal Centre Inc. (WNSWCLC) is seeking a compassionate and committed Caseworker (Domestic Violence) to join our Western Women’s Legal Support (WWLS) team. This role is dedicated to providing trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and non-judgmental support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. The successful candidate will deliver holistic non-legal assistance to clients, coordinate referrals, and support access to justice across regional and remote communities in Western NSW.

(WNSWCLC) is a not-for-profit community legal centre providing free legal advice, representation, referrals, and community legal education to people experiencing disadvantage across Western NSW. Our specialist program, Western Women's Legal Support (WWLS), delivers trauma-informed, culturally safe legal and non-legal support to women and children affected by domestic and family violence.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Caseworker - Domestic Violence within the WWLS team, you will provide holistic, trauma-informed, non-legal support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside WWLS solicitors to deliver coordinated, client-centred support across the WWLS service area, including regional and remote communities.

This is a part-time role for 4 days / 28 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, non-legal support to clients, including safety planning, needs assessments, and crisis intervention
• Develop and review tailored Case Management Plans to support client safety and wellbeing
• Assist clients in accessing police, courts, community services, and health services
• Conduct outreach across the region, including to regional and remote locations and occasional overnight travel
• Work collaboratively with WWLS solicitors to deliver a coordinated response to client needs
• Maintain accurate client records, conduct file reviews, and participate in regular casework meetings in accordance with the Centre's File Management Policy
• Contribute to community legal education sessions and public awareness initiatives
• Build and maintain referral pathways with community, health, and legal organisations
• Participate in law reform and advocacy activities relevant to domestic and family violence

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting women and children affected by domestic violence. You will have:

• Demonstrated understanding of the complexities and impacts of domestic and family violence, including trauma, coercive control, and intersecting disadvantage
• Experience in case management including risk and safety assessment
• Ability to work respectfully and effectively with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• High-level written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated capacity to build effective partnerships with community, health, and legal organisations
• Strong commitment to social justice, equity, and access to services
• Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stays
• Tertiary qualifications in social work, community welfare, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Desirable:

• Experience working in a community legal centre, women's service, domestic violence service, or related sector
• Experience or knowledge of legal processes relevant to domestic violence.
