Women’s Electoral Lobby (WEL) is a national, feminist, independent, non-profit, non-party political advocacy group, established in 1972.
For over 50 years, WEL has championed gender equality by influencing public policy, holding governments accountable and amplifying women's voices in Australia. WEL promotes its vision through political education and lobbying to pressure governments to change laws or policies, and by collaborating with other organisations and individuals in our campaigns. We work toward a society where all people—regardless of gender—can participate fully and equally, with their contributions recognized, respected, and fairly rewarded.
WEL advocates across a wide policy platform and recognises the interaction of different policies on gender equality.

WEL supports diversity and inclusion. Our activism acknowledges a human rights approach must underpin achieving equality for all. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and people from the LGBTIQ+ community are strongly encouraged to apply.

The NCC is responsible for the overall governance of WEL. It determines WEL’s advocacy and lobbying strategy in order to carry out WEL’s objectives and initiates or supports policy analysis and development as a basis for WEL’s advocacy activities.
