We are recruiting a Case Worker on a casual basis for our Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women's Shelter team to work with homeless women escaping domestic and family violence.

This role is classified as a Crisis Accommodation Level 2 position within the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS Award). The minimum base rate on offer is in line with Crisis Accommodation Level 2.1 pay rates, and the employee will be paid relevant loadings and allowances in line with the SCHADS Award.

The shelter is staffed 5 days a week (reporting to a Shelter Manager working office hours) therefore flexibility for early mornings and on-call shifts are essential.

Women’s Community Shelters are dedicated to supporting and empowering women to take control and move on with their lives. Our clients are supported with client-centric and trauma informed case management and are supported to secure more permanent accommodation and pursue other goals, such as, studying, re-training, legal, employment, financial, family and recreational.

An understanding of the homelessness sector, awareness around current issues and practice in domestic violence and good knowledge of housing pathways are key skills for this role.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrated experience within the community services sector in a support worker or case management capacity, preferably women's and/or children’s support including knowledge of and experience working within domestic violence and trauma services
  • Demonstrated understanding of client-centric and trauma informed practice
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively to develop tailored client solutions
  • Ability to work autonomously and also as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Current first aid certificate or capacity to acquire one before commencement
  • Current NSW Drivers License
  • A current Criminal History Check
  • A current Working With Children’s Check
  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Up to date COVID vaccination

Experience working with CIMS case management system is desirable.
