ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join the Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) at WASH House and play a vital role in supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence across Northwest Sydney. The Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program (WDVCAP) is committed to creating a community where women and children live free from domestic and family violence. Through a specialist, trauma-informed and culturally safe approach, we provide risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, court support, referrals and coordinated responses that prioritise the safety, dignity and wellbeing of victim-survivors.

As the WDVCAS Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible and client-centred services. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team, oversee service compliance and continuous improvement, build strong partnerships with courts, government agencies and community organisations, and contribute to policy development, community education and sector advocacy to strengthen outcomes for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced and confident leader with a strong commitment to supporting women and children affected by domestic and family violence. You bring demonstrated management experience in community services or a related sector and are capable of overseeing the day-to-day operations of a service while making sound, independent decisions that ensure effective and responsive service delivery.

You are skilled in building and maintaining strong partnerships with government and community stakeholders and are comfortable working across multiple sites and outreach settings. You have a collaborative leadership style, a strong understanding of interagency practice, and experience contributing to Safety Action Meetings (SAMs) or similar forums. Above all, you are committed to driving high-quality, trauma-informed and client-centred services that prioritise safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes for women and children.

Essential CRITERIA

  • Relevant qualifications and/or commensurate experience in social work, community services, psychology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience of minimum 2 years in community services work.
  • Commitment to working within a feminist framework and understanding of social policy and issues that face women in Western Sydney.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the dynamics, complexities and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic and family violence;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence;
  • Ability to deliver services in accordance with the WDVCAP model of service delivery outlined in the Service Agreement, this Policy and Procedure Manual, the SAM Manual and operational documents.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, financial and management skills;
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise and support WDVCAS staff and seconded workers;
  • Ability to develop and implement service delivery strategies aimed at ensuring the relevance, accessibility and responsiveness of WDVCAS services to a diverse range of women and children;
  • Ability to analyse quantitative data and qualitative data to improve service delivery;
  • Experience in building and maintaining constructive working relationships with key stakeholders and excellent networking skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in management, negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution;
  • Ability to effectively represent the work of the WDVCAS in public forums and in the media, and confidence in public speaking;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in domestic and family violence service provision;
  • Demonstrated management experience; and
  • Current clearance in relation to Working with Children and relevant NSW Police Force checks.
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to use own car

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting or managing multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams
  • Postgraduate qualifications or additional specialist training in domestic and family violence, leadership, management, or community services
  • Understanding of intersectionality and barriers experienced by diverse client groups, including people with disability, multicultural communities, LGBTIQ+ communities, youth, and older women
  • Membership or active engagement with relevant professional or sector networks
