Program Manager - Redfern

Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre

ABOUT US

Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, grassroots organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We are based in Redfern, Sydney and work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation.

Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence and systemic disadvantage. We do this by providing material aid, case management, biopsychosocial support, accommodation, and crisis responses. Equally we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities with communities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender based violence in a generation.

THE ROLE

Following significant growth, WAGEC requires a review of the client-focused programs operating at our Redfern centre. In addition to daily team and operations management, the Program Manager will consult on and evaluate the programs at Redfern to improve client outcomes, streamline workflows, engage positively with the community, and develop a supported, sustainable workforce. This is a full time role on an initial 12 month contract.

Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Program Manager leads a team of 5 dedicated Case Managers and DV Specialists and works collaboratively with other WAGEC teams. • Consult on and evaluate Redfern program functions to improve client journeys, streamline case management processes and ensure workforce capacity can meet growth and development opportunities.
  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with key external networks, agencies and communities that help to support achieving WAGEC’s vision and purpose.

ABOUT YOU

  • You’re an experienced leader and manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading teams in human services and client-facing roles
  • You have sound knowledge of the systems, sectors, and impacts of Family and Domestic Violence and/or Homelessness, particularly their effect on women and children.
