Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

Our main services are in Wellington & Dubbo, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.

We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Worker to join our Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in delivering culturally respectful family violence programs and services to the Aboriginal community.

About the Role:

This position operates within our Wellington office and aims to strengthen community capacity, provide specialist support, and promote healing-informed practices. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with community members, organisations, and healthcare providers to prevent and respond to family violence
  • Developing and implementing community education and prevention initiatives addressing violence, abuse, and neglect
  • Providing trauma-informed support and referrals to individuals and families affected by violence
  • Contributing to case management processes and interagency collaborations
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Essential Criteria:

  • Aboriginality
  • Cert IV in Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention (or willingness to undertake)
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal communities and families
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy, report writing, and record-keeping skills
  • Unrestricted Driver's License and willingness to travel

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in delivering community programs
