About the role

Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) are seeking an experienced Senior Policy and Project Officer to join the People and Workplace Services (PaWS) team for a 12-month fixed term period. With limited direction from the Senior Policy and Project Manager, this role is responsible for leading human resource project deliverables and governance streams. 

This role is also responsible for: 

  • Leading the iterative design, configuration, user-testing, and continuous improvement of core human resource systems and workflows.
  • Designing, building, and automating high-level workforce metrics reporting frameworks to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Establishing, monitoring, and refining robust project structures, risk frameworks, and compliance mechanisms aligned with public sector standards.
  • Collating portfolio risk and project performance reporting across PaWS. 

This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country. 

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience leading the end-to-end delivery of complex project streams (mandatory).
  • Operational knowledge of human resource and industrial relations instruments and legislation (mandatory).
  • Proven ability to conceptualise and synthesise complex data, including visualisation to provide and operational insights (highly desirable).
  • Exceptional written communication and stakeholder engagement skills including authoring authoritative briefings and technical reports (highly desirable).
