The role will require:

• Meeting with families to arrange funerals
• Working in our mortuary to provide basic mortuary care, ceremonial washing and dressing with staff, volunteers and families
• Transferring the deceased into our care
• Booking and conducting funerals
• Participating in our community education events
• Working with and supporting volunteers
• Contributing to a 24/7 on-call roster for support and transfers

To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following criteria:

• A commitment to strengths-based community development
• Willingness to work within the Tender Credo
• A person-centred approach to funerals and death care
• Willingness to work in the mortuary
• Be willing and available to contribute regularly to the on call roster for transfers, phones and arrangements
• Uphold and contribute to a healthy workplace culture
• Proficient computer skills and willingness to learn and use new technology
• Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver's licence
• Ability to drive manual preferred
• Willingness to undergo a police check and obtain Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) and Working with Children (NSW) cards
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own workload
• Have good communication skills, both on the phone and in person
• Being physically fit to carry out the duties
• Able to get to and from work at Fairbairn, noting there is no public transport available to our site.
