The role will require:
- Meeting with families to arrange funerals
- Working in our mortuary to provide basic mortuary care, ceremonial washing and dressing with staff, volunteers and families
- Transferring the deceased into our care
- Booking and conducting funerals
- Participating in our community education events
- Working with and supporting volunteers
- Contributing to a 24/7 on-call roster for support and transfers
To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A commitment to strengths-based community development
- Willingness to work within the Tender Credo
- A person-centred approach to funerals and death care
- Willingness to work in the mortuary
- Be willing and available to contribute regularly to the on call roster for transfers, phones and arrangements
- Uphold and contribute to a healthy workplace culture
- Proficient computer skills and willingness to learn and use new technology
- Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver's licence
- Ability to drive manual preferred
- Willingness to undergo a police check and obtain Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) and Working with Children (NSW) cards
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own workload
- Have good communication skills, both on the phone and in person
- Being physically fit to carry out the duties
- Able to get to and from work at Fairbairn, noting there is no public transport available to our site.
