Tangaroa Blue Foundation (TBF) is Australia’s leading not-for-profit dedicated to removing and preventing marine debris. Through data collection, community empowerment, and systemic change, we’re tackling one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time.
We’re seeking a National Operations Manager to lead the systems and people that power our mission. This is a pivotal leadership role, overseeing HR, compliance, project delivery, risk management, and team leadership across a passionate team of 35 staff working nationwide.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee national operations across HR, scheduling, compliance, and project delivery.
- Work with the Finance Manager to support payroll processes and ensure award compliance.
- Oversee risk management, governance, and WHS standards.
- Support strategic planning, board reporting, and funding applications.
- Build and manage a high-performing, geographically dispersed team.
- Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reporting.
About you
- Minimum 10 years’ operational experience (or 5 in operational management).
- Strong HR knowledge with experience supporting payroll processes (Tanda experience highly regarded).
- Proven ability to manage budgets, risk, and compliance frameworks.
- Skilled at leading dispersed teams and fostering collaborative culture.
- Proficiency in digital workplace tools, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other cloud-based collaboration platforms.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, HR, Operations, or related field.
- NFP or government funding experience is desirable.
