THE ROLE

The DVRE Case Worker is a vital role responsible for the efficient and effective crisis response and case management support for women and families that are presenting for assistance due to the impacts of family and domestic violence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide crisis response to women with/without children escaping domestic and family.
  • Conducting initial intakes and assessments and providing crisis intervention where appropriate.
  • Working closely with the client to develop case plans that include ongoing support, review, and follow up; crisis intervention as required
  • Referring clients to appropriate external services such as those that provide life skill and educational programs.
  • Providing crisis intervention where appropriate.
  • Supporting and assisting clients in a way that promotes independence, empowerment and prevents a return to homelessness.
  • Undertaking home visits, advocating on behalf of the clients where required, and supervising client activities.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records and case notes.

YOU WILL NEED

  • The St Vincent de Paul Society considers being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
  • Qualification/s in Social Work/Social Science/Community Welfare or other relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience providing support to marginalised and vulnerable people support to homeless persons.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing crisis intervention and case work for women with/without children experiencing domestic and family violence and/ or homelessness, including people with complex and/or high-level needs.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection issues and the crisis, social, community and private rental housing market in NSW.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • NSW driver licence - flexibility to travel to meet clients needs.
