Refuge Victoria is a leading specialist provider of family violence refuge accommodation in Victoria. We support people at serious risk of family violence to achieve safety and independence through refuge, crisis accommodation, and case management services, supporting over 500 people each year.
Our staff have expertise in working with diverse family groupings including LGBTIQ+ led families, families without permanent residency, with a member who has a disability, and sibling groups escaping violence.
Refuge Victoria is seeking to recruit Volunteer Board Members to join our Board of Directors. Board Members are appointed for at term of up to three years, with an option to extend.
As a Board Director, you will contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the organisation, working collaboratively with the CEO and fellow Directors to ensure Refuge Victoria meets its purpose, complies with its obligations, and delivers high-quality services.
We are keen to hear from people who can bring depth of experience in any of the following areas:
Experience in board governance, risk and compliance, or legal/regulatory matters is highly regarded.
The Board meets at least six times per year (evenings) on the fourth Monday of alternate months, with meetings held face to face in eastern Melbourne. Directors are also expected to serve on Board subcommittees and participate in strategic planning workshops.
Women with lived experience of family violence and from women, trans and non-binary people from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
