NPY Women's Council
  • Relocation Assistance provided
  • February 2021 commencement

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

Atunypa Wiru Minyma Uwankaraku’ Service is a domestic and family violence service (DFVS) and advocacy for Aboriginal women and children living in the NPY region. The service is informed by a holistic and relational understanding of violence which acknowledges the key role of family and community relationships in working effectively with indigenous clients.

Based in our Alice Springs office, we are now recruiting a full time leadership position to oversee a multidisciplinary team which delivers an innovative, best practice domestic and family violence service to women in the NPY Lands.

The ideal person will have demonstrated experience and understanding of trauma-informed service delivery in a domestic violence or related human services context. You will also have an understanding of a holistic and relational approach to domestic violence service delivery, relevant for remote Aboriginal Australian cultural contexts.

You will be responsible for recruitment for the DFVS team, overseeing the development of professional development, and ensuring compliance to submissions, reports, policy reviews and data collection. In addition, you will demonstrate the ability to apply contemporary management and leadership approaches for service delivery, including supporting staff in a complex context.

Critical to this role is facilitating and mentoring the leadership group of the DFVS team to provide high quality supervision to both casework and specialist staff, and nurturing a culture of learning and reflection for the DFVS as a whole.

Alongside this, ensuring service delivery is underpinned by appropriate professional and critical theoretical frameworks, in particular NPY’s Strengthening Community Capacity to End Violence Practice Framework.

NPY offers a range of benefits and you will join a diverse and inclusive organisation in an environment and landscape unique to Australia. You will receive an above-award based salary, salary packaging benefits, 7 weeks of annual leave, 3 days of additional leave, and generous personal leave to care for you and your family. We also provide access to an Employee Assistance Program for independent and confidential counselling.
