NPY Women’s Council is inviting expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to apply for the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
NPY Women’s council is led by women’s law and authority to deliver health, social and cultural services for all Anangu.
Created in 1980 by women from the NPY Lands, NPYWC is now a major provider of health and human services and maintains a strong voice for its members on issues such as domestic and family violence, rights of older people and people with a disability, child protection and nutrition and young people.
The NPY Lands are home to 6,000 Anangu and Yarnangu from 26 desert communities and homelands, spread over 350,000 square kilometres in the cross border region of Central Australia, Western Australia and South Australia. NPY Women’s Council employs over 200 staff and its head office is in Alice Springs.
Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, the Deputy CEO provides strategic direction across the organisation ensuring NPY Women’s Council remains powerful and culturally strong, delivering excellent services and outcomes for families in the NPY region. Focusing on operational and administrative functions the Deputy CEO will ensure that NPY Women’s Council continues to be regarded as a high quality Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation delivering excellent services and outcomes.
The Deputy CEO contributes to the strategic vision and growth of NPY Women’s Council and is responsible for a number of high level, strategic and operational outcomes which include:
You are an experienced leader with sound knowledge of issues related to Aboriginal communities such as culturally safe and trauma informed practice, gender and development. You are experienced in leading and managing staff and overseeing service delivery and program budgets.
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and you may have held a similar role or you may want to take that next step up within an Aboriginal Controlled organisation.
Your interpersonal and communication skills will ensure you work effectively with a broad range of people within and outside the organisation. Above all, you will demonstrate honesty, integrity, diplomacy and a sense of fairness.
