  • Full time, based in Port Macquarie to work across the Mid North Coast (Kempsey, Macksville, Nambucca)

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification. An Aboriginal person is defined under section 4 (1) of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW) as a person who:

(a) is a member of the Aboriginal race of Australia, and

(b) identifies as an Aboriginal person, and

(c) is accepted by the Aboriginal community as an Aboriginal person.

The Mid Coast WDVCAS host the Taree & Port Macquarie Local Coordination Points. We receive automatic referrals from police for women who are experiencing domestic and family violence. The service also coordinates the fortnightly Safety Action Meetings in both areas. Members of these meetings include the Safety Action Meeting Coordinator and high level government and non government representatives who contribute to develop safety actions plans for victims at serious threat.

The Domestic & Family Violence Specialist staff are required to make contact with female victims of domestic violence, assess her safety, conduct risk assessments, offer warm referrals and provide court advocacy.

We are seeking women with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and advocacy skills. You will have a commitment to empowering women and children affected by domestic and family violence and have demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis.

Being a woman is a genuine qualification for this position under the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act.

Salary and Benefits:

The role is remunerated at Level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disabilities Services Industry Award 2010. The specific level of remuneration is dependent on the workers experience.

Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid and salary packaging is available.

You will also need a current driver’s license and a well maintained and insured motor vehicle for this position. Reimbursements are paid for travel in the course of your work.
