Remote / Work from Home
We’re inviting applications for a volunteer role with the indigo foundation’s Development Coordination Board (DCB). We warmly welcome all applications, and especially encourage candidates with lived experience in the global south (preferably the Asia Pacific) or as members of diaspora communities within Australia to apply. We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to and knowledge of community-led development and gender justice, and expertise that will help indigo improve its work. This is a great chance to join a 4 member volunteer, highly engaged and skilled DCB.
indigo foundation is an international community development organisation based in Australia. For over 25 years, we have supported grassroots organisations to pursue their development goals. We currently support 10 local partners across 7 countries - Afghanistan, India, Rwanda, Indonesia, Bougainville/PNG, Palestine and Timor Leste. We are a proudly nimble and creative organisation, with committed volunteers and supporters across Australia.
We support our community partners to empower women and girls, improve education and health outcomes, secure better livelihoods for families and defend human rights in their communities. We believe powerful and positive change is achieved through community control over decision-making, honest communication between communities and ourselves and building strong community organisations.
Additional information about indigo foundation, our partners, the work we do and a copy of our 2024 Annual Report and strategy can be found on our website - https://indigofoundation.org/reports/
We are looking for people who can demonstrate an understanding of indigo’s guiding principles - community ownership, equity, transparency, and sustainability – and are motivated by our international community development approach.
The purpose of the DCB is to provide regular expert advice and guidance to the indigo foundation Board on indigo foundation’s community partnerships and development program, focusing on the degree to which they support the goals, guiding principles and focus areas in indigo foundation’s Strategy 2023-2027.
Specifically:
The current DCB comprises five people with international development experience. It meets four times a year virtually, with one face to face meeting annually. The role can be based anywhere in Australia. We are looking for someone that can make a 3 year commitment.

indigo foundation is committed to being an inclusive organisation and has been working to ensure diversity in the profile of our board and volunteers. We do not discriminate on the basis of ability, age, gender identity and expression, national origin, race and ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or criminal record.
