• Employment Type: Part-time permanent (approx. 2-3 days per week, negotiable)
• Working Location: Hybrid. Minimum one day per week in the Cremorne office; remaining days flexible.

About Impact Obesity

Impact Obesity is a registered Health Promotion Charity working to improve access to evidence-based obesity care in Australia. We are philanthropically funded and were established by healthcare professionals concerned about inequitable access to obesity treatment within the Australian healthcare system.

Impact Obesity leads several complementary initiatives including Prospero Health (a free digital health platform supporting Australians using GLP-1 medicines or recovering from bariatric surgery), research and advocacy partnership initiatives designed to improve obesity care pathways and reduce barriers to treatment.

As we continue to expand our digital health capabilities, we are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to help shape the next phase of our growth and impact.

Position Purpose

This role provides technology leadership for Impact Obesity’s digital health platforms, research initiatives and future technology-enabled services, with a primary focus on Prospero Health and related digital health innovation.

The CTO will combine strategic leadership with practical technology expertise to help the organisation evolve from a successful digital health platform into a scalable, integrated and sustainable health technology organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the organisation’s technology strategy and roadmap
• Advise the Executive Director and Board on technology opportunities, risks and investment priorities
• Lead digital health, privacy, cybersecurity, compliance and data governance initiatives
• Guide technology strategy for healthcare interoperability, EMR and practice management software integrations
• Support growth, sustainability, partnerships, and commercial opportunities requiring technical leadership
• Advise on FHIR, HL7 and other healthcare data standards
• Work with the Senior Engineer to oversee software architecture, infrastructure, engineering quality and operational reliability
• Support Internal Senior Engineer to lead development partners and projects
• Be hands-on with coding system architecture and technical delivery where required

Essential Experience

• Significant experience in senior technology leadership roles
• Strong software engineering, architecture or platform leadership background
• Experience developing and executing technology strategy
• Experience leading technical teams and external partners
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and modern software development practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Familiarity with TGA requirements and software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) considerations

Highly Desirable

• Familiarity with Australian healthcare system • Experience with health data governance, privacy and compliance
• Experience integrating with EMRs, practice management systems and healthcare APIs
• Experience with interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7
• Experience in startups, scale-ups, social enterprises or mission-driven organisations
