About the Organisation

Physical Disability Australia is a national peak membership-based representative organisation run by people with physical disability for people with physical disability. Its purpose is to remove barriers so that people with physical disability have opportunities to realise their full potential and promote difference, diversity for an inclusive society and actively promote of the rights, responsibilities, issues and participation of people with a physical disability. PDA is well-regarded by government, industry and the community sector and represents more than 1000 member organisations.

About the role

This role provides the strategic direction for PDA’s future, setting long-term vision and short-term goals in alignment with the board and member expectations. As the public face of PDA, the plays an instrumental role in amplifying the voices of people with physical disability across Australia. The role provides leadership to a small team, fostering high performance and delivers a fit-for-purpose organisational infrastructure.

About you

You are a person living with a physical disability and have a deep commitment to the type of work PDA does. You are an exceptional communicator and influencer, comfortable liaising with a wide range of sector and government stakeholders. With a strong knowledge of the disability and government sector, you will leverage your strategic thinking and conceptual skills to develop PDA’s policy positions, advocate for change and seek new business opportunities for the organisation. As a seasoned leader, you understand the importance of culture and can effectively support team members to perform at their best. You bring strong operational management skills to oversee the efficient functioning of the organisation (including finance, ICT and communications).
