We are seeking a Community Programs & Operations Officer to join our team.

KEY OBJECTIVES

The Community Programs & Operations Officer is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operational delivery of community programs and activities at Geeveston Community Centre. The role ensures programs are well organised, volunteers are effectively supported, facilities are prepared, and participants have a welcoming and positive experience.

Working closely with the Manager and Community Development Officer, this position provides the operational backbone of the Centre by coordinating logistics, maintaining administrative systems and supporting effective communication with volunteers, participants and community members. The role contributes to the Centre's mission by ensuring community activities are delivered efficiently, safely and consistently while enabling staff and volunteers to focus on creating meaningful community outcomes.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Program Coordination: Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of community programs and activities, including scheduling, room bookings, resource allocation and participant administration. Ensure programs are well organised, efficiently delivered and provide a positive experience for participants.
  • Volunteer Support: Support and coordinate volunteers across Centre programs by maintaining rosters, providing day-to-day guidance and ensuring they have the information and resources needed to succeed. 
  • Operations & Administration: Work with the Manager to maintain efficient operational systems that keep the Centre running smoothly, including venue logistics, administrative records, stock control, reporting and data collection. 
  • Communications & Community Engagement: Prepare newsletters, promotional materials and social media content to promote Centre activities and keep volunteers, participants and the broader community informed. Respond to enquiries and contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Events & Continuous Improvement: Support the planning and efficient operational delivery of community events by coordinating logistics, volunteers and venue requirements.

ABOUT YOU 

  • You are passionate about supporting your local community and creating opportunities for people to participate and feel welcomed through well-coordinated programs and activities.
  • You have strong coordination and administration skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, support smooth day-to-day operations, and ensure programs and events run effectively.
  • You are confident working alongside volunteers, community members and partners, providing practical support, encouragement and guidance to help ideas and initiatives come to life.
  • You are a proactive team member with excellent communication skills who values collaboration, inclusivity and creating welcoming spaces where people feel connected and supported.

This role is offered at SCHADS Level 4 and is offered on a permanent part time basis across 20 hours per week.
