Elizabeth Morgan House Aboriginal Women’s Service Inc. (EMHAWS) is a specialist family violence organisation based in Melbourne. We are proudly an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation and have been in operation since 1976. EMHAWS takes direction and works in consultation with the community in all aspects of our services. Central to our work and business is the aim to provide advocacy and support for the empowerment of Aboriginal women, children, young people and the wider community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a two Outreach Case Managers experienced in Family Violence to join our Western Team. You will provide high quality case management support and advocacy for Aboriginal women and their accompanying children impacted by Family Violence. This includes, but is not limited to, initial contact, assessment and safety planning, case planning, and exit planning.

We have two roles currently available. Experience within the family violence sector is desirable however comprehensive and ongoing training will be provided for the successful applicant.

A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification is a mandatory requirement and recent graduates will be considered.

EMHAWS is committed to the integration of services within the broader service system. As such, the Western Outreach Team works proactively and collaboratively with the wider community services sector to ensure Aboriginal women and their children receive culturally appropriate support to meet their service needs.

We are seeking a full-time positions but hours can be negotiated for the right candidate. The roles will be based in our newly established Brookfield office.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent qualification)
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide culturally appropriate crisis intervention support, case management and advocacy for Aboriginal children and young people.
  3. A strong understanding of the complex nature and dynamics of family violence including the impact of family violence on Aboriginal women and children.
  4. An understanding of MARAM, FVISS, and CISS.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Excellent time management and demonstrated experience in the ability to manage competing priorities and stressful situations
  7. Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history, and self-determination with the ability to apply this in a contemporary setting. Demonstrated connection to Community desirable.
