ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

In 2021, Domestic Violence Victoria (DV Vic) and the Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria (DVRCV) merged to become a new entity – Safe and Equal.

Safe and Equal is the peak body for specialist family violence services that provide support to victim survivors in Victoria. We are an independent, non-government organisation that leads, organises, advocates for, and acts on behalf of our members – with a focus across the continuum from primary prevention through to response and recovery.

We work towards a world beyond family and gender-based violence, where women, children and all people from marginalised communities are safe, thriving and respected.

We apply a specialist lens across primary prevention, early intervention, response and recovery to:

  • Develop practice and support workforces
  • Strengthen and connect organisations, sectors and systems
  • Build momentum for social change
  • Build a strong peak organisation

Safe and Equal’s work is informed by the experiences of adult and child victim-survivors impacted by family violence.

Safe and Equal is committed to providing flexible and accessible working arrangements for all. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people of colour, young people, older people, women, and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, intersex or queer people. We recognise the strength and value in diversity and difference, remain open to new approaches and actively foster an inclusive workplace that celebrates the contribution made by all our people.

The Communications Manager is responsible for the day to day management, coordination and support for all BAU and project based communications, media and engagement activity, with support from the Executive Director and a multidisciplinary Communications Team.
