Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) is a community organisation providing crisis intervention, follow-up and case management supports and services to all people affected by domestic violence in the ACT. The priority of our Service is for the safety of the people who have been subjected to domestic or family violence, recognising that the majority are women and children.

The DFV Risk Assessment Training Coordinator will work to build a shared understanding of domestic and family violence risk across the ACT health and human services systems through developing and delivering training packages on the updated ACT Domestic Violence Risk Assessment and Management Framework.

This is a contract position to 30 June 2027, with prospects of permanency.

DUTIES

The DFV Risk Training Coordinator will:

  • Undertake day-to-day coordination of the Risk Assessment Management Framework Training project, including liaising with funding bodies, data collection and reporting.
  • Have the skills/experience to speak to domestic and family violence risk assessment, risk management, and safety planning.
  • Facilitate Risk Assessment Management Framework Training across three tiers, from generalist to specialist. Create safe and inclusive learning environments in the facilitation of DFV training sessions to a range of training participants within the ACT across government and non-government sectors.
  • Lead the development of training products and resources related to the Risk Assessment and Management Framework to build the capacity of government and non-government workforces to identify and respond to DFV.
  • Build strong relationships with funding bodies, partners and other stakeholders to improve collaboration, embed risk assessment and management practice and improve outcomes for victim survivors of family violence.
  • Support a team environment through leading by example and promoting respectful and positive workplace behaviours;
  • Respond to disclosures of family violence during or adjacent to training provision, and undertake basic risk assessment, safety planning and referrals.
  • Engage in other tasks, for example contributing to project work, community education and training sessions as required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The DFV Risk Assessment Training Coordinator will require the following skills, experience, and capabilities:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the drivers of domestic and family violence and its impact across the community; as well as issues affecting people with complex needs who require a range of system responses.
  • Familiarity with the ACT Risk Assessment and Management Framework, and understanding of its role within the ACT service system.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting people who have experienced domestic and family violence, and the ability to make sound judgements and appropriate referrals.
  • Well-developed skills in delivering education or training, or leading group discussions.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and delivering comprehensive and high-quality reports for funding agencies and governing bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks and ensure deadlines are met and expectations managed when issues arise.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team of people with a focus on leading and maintaining a growth mindset regarding professional development, as well as team development.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of equity, inclusion and diversity.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card.
  • Current driver’s licence.

SALARY

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the SCHADS Award level 7.1 to level 7.3. Salary commensurate with qualifications, demonstrated skills and experience.
