About You

As a Coordinator, Community Equity Outreach, you will support the University’s Access and Equity projects, including the Diversity and Inclusion Framework and related Action Plans, by designing and delivering a number of projects and initiatives and engaging collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. This role will focus on supporting awareness building, access and successful participation by students from under-represented groups.

You will work with a small and enthusiastic team in the Equity and Inclusion group and liaise with RMIT colleagues across Students Group, RMIT Schools and Colleges, and the Ngarara Willim Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as well as with external partners.

Your interpersonal and people focus skills along with your experience working with communities in projects, particularly students, will help you succeed in this position.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant professional experience at a similar level.
  • A current driver’s licence is desirable.
  • Understanding of community diversity and commitment to reconciliation with first nations people
  • Experience identifying, developing and maintaining relationships for defined outcomes with a wide range of partners, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective planning, organisational, and project management skills, including coordinating staff for the effective delivery of events and programs.
  • Written and oral communication skills, including experience in public speaking and the proven ability to liaise at all levels with a culturally diverse group of people.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams in a large organisation, including strong problem-solving skills to achieve identified outcomes.
  • Strong administration and computer literacy skills using systems and software to manage, deliver and report on diversity and inclusion projects, with the capacity to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience with program evaluation and implementing continuous improvement practices.
