About the role

The Compliance Officer position supports the CEC’s Compliance and Regulatory Services (CRS) team to see that Approved Sellers (retailers) comply with the New Energy Tech Consumer Code and Approved Products comply with the CEC Product Terms and Conditions.

The role’s primary focus is to assess and investigate complaints, reports and referrals of non-compliance against Retailers and Manufacturers against respective governing policies and codes. Additionally, the role will support the CRS team to conduct compliance audits on Approved Products and Retailers to ensure the integrity of our industry programs.

The role interfaces with a broad range of stakeholders and is responsible for handling enquiries from Consumers, Manufacturers, Retailers and their agents, which may include legal representatives.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 76 hours per fortnight (1 FTE). Salary for this role is $80k - $85K plus super, based on experience.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • VCE or equivalent, certificate or diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • Certificate IV Government Investigations or business law qualifications are desirable.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience in a compliance, enforcement, or business audit role.
  • Knowledge of Australian Consumer Law (ACL) is highly regarded, particularly as it relates to consumer protection, product safety and compliance enforcement in the renewable energy sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle complex stakeholder enquiries.
  • Able to work through an investigation process methodically, logically, and objectively.
  • Able to quickly learn new processes and adapt to a changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, determine priorities and organise work to meet priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to research and problem solve to carry out effective investigations.
  • High level of initiative with the ability to work independently to complete required work tasks.
  • Proven service-oriented work ethic and an ability to handle demanding clients.
  • Strong information technology skills including Microsoft Office suite especially Excel and CRM (e.g. Salesforce or similar).
