The Role

This position is required to be filled by an individual who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. It is a genuine occupational requirement of this role that it be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individual.

The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander HRT Case Manager directly responds to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait HRT clients who are in crisis, providing immediate support to clients requiring risk assessment, safety intervention and planning as well as urgent referrals and supportive monitoring and follow up.

You will work collaboratively with team members, HRT core members and other organisations to develop appropriate and innovative responses to prevent violence within the Logan and/or Redlands community. Key responsibilities include providing regular emotional support to clients over the telephone or in person including, at times, daily phone contact.

Collaborating with the team to ensure all client queries are attended to effectively. Responding to referrals of clients from other agencies. Coordinating short term placement in emergency accommodation or other temporary shelter(s) including refuge. Participation in relevant networks and forums in relation to Domestic and Family Violence and service provision to women and children, including community development and activities to raise awareness.

The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander HRT Case Manager will attend the weekly HRT meetings when reviewing First Nations cases to provide a cultural lens to ensure that First Nations clients are appropriately supported within a multi-agency response. The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander HRT Case Manager will also consult with other CFW team members to ensure that our practice is culturally safe.

About You

This role requires an individual that identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander holding tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, or human services alongside relevant experience. Mandatory requirements include a Working with Children Blue Card, current QLD driver's licence, competency with technology and highly developed communication skills. Postgraduate qualifications in counselling or social work are preferred.

Demonstrated experience and comprehensive knowledge of Domestic and Family Violence. Understanding of and experience working within current legislation, (Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012). Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and experience working within a HRT Team or similar multidisciplinary team is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

  • SCHADS Level 5.1 ($47.50p/h) | Full-Time (38 Hours Per Week)
