The CFMEU Construction & General Division Victorian Branch represents over 35,000 construction workers. We are a strong, activist, values-driven union that fights for safety, wages, rights and a better life for working people.

As the Union continues its path through Administration we are rebuilding our foundations: strong governance, modern systems, and a culture built on respect, solidarity and member-first principles.

We are seeking a Director of Operations to play a pivotal leadership role in this transformation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Operations is a senior position responsible for ensuring the Victorian Branch operates as a modern, disciplined and high-performing organisation.

You will lead and oversee all core corporate functions of the union, including:

• Finance – budgeting, reporting, governance of funds, procurement and internal controls
• HR & Culture – workforce planning, recruitment, performance, compliance and cultural reform
• Membership Systems – administration, data quality and digital systems
• Information Technology – oversight of IT governance and team leadership
• Fleet & Facilities – safe, efficient and cost-effective management of vehicles and physical assets
• Risk, Governance & Compliance – frameworks, policies and adherence to legal and internal obligations

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking a senior operational leader with:

• Experience leading complex operations in a union, NFP, government agency or member-based organisation
• Expertise across finance, HR, governance, risk and organisational systems
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills
• High integrity, sound judgement and alignment with union values

Highly regarded: experience in construction, industrial environments, digital transformation, or working under regulatory oversight such as Administration.
