About the Program:
Safe Arrival is our Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) prevention program for women and girls from refugee and migrant backgrounds. The goal of the program is to raise awareness of Domestic and Family Violence and provide important harm prevention skills for participants in a familiar and culturally safe setting. Safe Arrival Youth is our program adaptation for girls aged 16-24, which focuses on respectful relationships and consent education. Each program consists of five two-hour group workshops facilitated weekly by CAPS staff at settlement organisations across Western Sydney, Sydney, and the Inner West.
About the Role:
The Domestic Violence Program Facilitator will facilitate our Safe Arrival and Safe Arrival Youth group programs at various settlement service locations. The in-person role includes working with settlement organisation delivery partners to schedule program delivery, attending planning meetings with delivery partners and CAPS staff, as well as regular program delivery. The position also includes building positive relationships with local delivery partners and conducting program outreach and networking activities.
Responsibilities of the Role:
Include but are not limited to:
- Liaising with delivery partner organisations, and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with delivery partner staff
- Conducting meetings between CAPS and delivery partners
- Working with other CAPS staff to review and improve program material
- Developing links and referral networks with local services that support multicultural communities and people experiencing Domestic and Family Violence
- Participating in local community activities to promote Safe Arrival/Safe Arrival Youth
- Scheduling program delivery within funded areas
- Facilitating Safe Arrival/Safe Arrival Youth programs with groups of up to 20 clients
- Collecting feedback and evaluations during and after program delivery
- Regularly reporting back to CAPS and liaising with other staff members about program progress and challenges

Skills and experience:
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualifications including Social Work, Psychology, Education, Casework, or related experience
- Strong understanding of Domestic and Family Violence, and the unique challenges and intervention needs of women and girls from refugee and migrant backgrounds
- Experience with group program facilitation and an understanding of group dynamics
- Experience working with young people and people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within multicultural communities
- A current Working With Children Check and ability to undergo a police check
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination and commitment to working in accordance with all NSW Health safety guidelines
Desirable
- Ability to speak at least one community language such as Dari, Arabic, Vietnamese, or Mandarin
