The organisations

Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria (DVRCV)'s vision is to create a world in which gender equality ensures women and their children are thriving, respected and free from violence. We are a state-wide organisation working to build the capability of professionals, organisations and systems to prevent and respond to violence against women. 

DVRCV is looking to merge with Domestic Violence Victoria (DV Vic), the peak body for specialist family violence response services in Victoria, recognised as the state-wide voice of Specialist Family Violence Services (SFVSs) responding to victims-survivors. Its work is focused on advocating for, supporting, and building the capacity of specialist family violence practice and service delivery for victims-survivors; system reform; and research, policy development and law reform.

The newly merged organisation would be the peak body for specialist family violence services in Victoria, working from an intersectional feminist approach, informed by an understanding of the gendered nature of violence and with the interests of all victim survivors at the heart of everything we do. We would apply a specialist lens across primary prevention, early intervention, response and recovery to:  

  • Lead, influence and advocate for law reform, policy, practice and effective systems. 
  • Build the capability of specialist and mainstream workforces and industries to prevent and respond to family violence and violence against women through
    • design and delivery of specialist education, training and professional development
    • providing specialist practice leadership  
    • leading state-wide workforce and sector development activities.
  • Promote well-resourced, accessible and inclusive service provision and actively reflect the diversity of lived experience in our work.
  • Provide cultural, social and community leadership to address the drivers of violence and promote the rights of all victim survivors to live free from violence.

Appointment of this position will be dependent on a successful merge vote on 26 March 2020.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team, playing a key role in guiding the two organisations through the merger, with a focus on effective operational transformation and culture to ensure the new organisation’s resilience, growth and sustainability.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Managing the effective development and delivery of an organisational change management plan which includes strategies focusing on changes to culture, business process, operations, people and systems.
  • Managing risk and compliance processes ensuring the leadership team are provided with up to date information and advice about risk and mitigation strategies. 
  • Providing specialist advice and support regarding industrial relations and human resources.
  • Overseeing the effective and efficient management of work health and safety, injury management, return to work, employee relations, recruitment, payroll, learning and development and organisational development.
  • Overseeing the  successful merging of the organisational finances and financial management processes, systems and operations.    
  • Overseeing the accreditation and registration process for the Registered Training  Organisation.
  • Developing strategic relationships with a wide range of key government and non-government stakeholders and suppliers.

Experience and skills required

You possess exceptional strategic thinking capabilities, and a deep understanding of the dynamics of guiding an organisation through a period of significant change. You see change as a challenge, and are agile to embrace a dynamic environment.

Experience with mergers and transformations will be highly regarded.

Your experience and skills will include

  • A proven track record in positively designing and implementing organisational wide change management processes  in complex and sensitive circumstances.
  • Knowledge and management of industrial relations processes.
  • The ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • The ability to gain cooperation from and influence a wide range of internal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to positively build effective working relationships, drive engagement, motivate staff and influence culture.
  • Project management and contract management skills.
  • Sound business planning, operational and financial administration knowledge.
