Berry Street's Northern Specialist Family Violence Service provides a Specialist Family Violence team within The Orange Door (North East Region) as an initiative resulting per Recommendations 37 and 38 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence.

We have several opportunities for Specialist Family Violence Hub Practitioners either in a permanent, full time or part time (minimum 4 days per week) capacity. Currently this position is a mix of in the office and working from home due to the COVID-19 situation while we slowly reintegrate back into the office and perform face to face work as Victorian restrictions are lifted.
The Specialist Family Violence Hub Practitioner plays a critical role in family violence risk assessment, safety planning and engagement of victim survivors and their children into any supports they need. The referrals are a combination of police referred, victim survivors calling our service directly, or referrals from other services. The service can be provided by contacting victim survivors by phone, face to face at the Hub, or conducting outreach appointments.
You will hold a Bachelor's qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or related discipline and have an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and its impact on victim survivors and their children. You will have experience in working with victim survivors and their children from diverse backgrounds who have experienced family violence and the ability and experience to undertake comprehensive risk assessments (TRAM).
