Domestic Violence NSW (DVNSW) is the peak body for specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) services in NSW. They work to eliminate domestic and family violence through the leadership of the specialist DFV sector and the NSW policy environment. In 2021, DVNSW were awarded the contract to represent Women’s Domestic Violence and Court Advocacy Services (WDVCAS). The team at DVNSW collectively work towards a world where women, families and communities in NSW live free from violence, have equal rights, equal opportunities, and the freedom to reach their potential.

About the role

In this newly created role, you will oversee the project management of a support and grants process for the DFV core and cluster funding. Responsible for planning and coordinating sector engagement and capacity building with a range of front-line service providers across NSW, the project manager will undertake sector mapping and consultation to identify gaps and priorities for sector engagement and capacity building.

Working closely with other peak bodies to plan, promote and facilitate place-based workshops across NSW, bringing key, local stakeholders together to discuss the needs of particular geographical regions and establish collaborative partnerships. The project manager will oversee the provision of best practice expertise regarding the operation of trauma-informed domestic and family violence services, whilst contributing to the design and governance of a grants process.

As a newly established role, the responsibilities and work plan of the Project Manager will be flexible with capacity to evolve and respond to issues, demands and feedback from key stakeholders. Role responsibilities are anticipated to include the following:

  • Draft a project plan in collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Map the key stakeholders across NSW.
  • Design and/or implement a survey of frontline service providers and analyse information gathered to inform project planning, requirements and activities.
  • Develop a stakeholder engagement plan.
  • Collaborate with other peak bodies to plan and coordinate local, face-to-face (where possible) consultations with key stakeholders, encouraging collaboration and partnerships.
  • Provide best practice expertise and guidance regarding operating trauma-informed, culturally safe domestic and family violence services.
  • Design a process for collecting and reporting on data regarding the outputs and outcomes of the project.
  • Prepare project reports and updates.
  • Contribute to the design and governance of a grants program and support the assessment of grant applications.
  • Participate in project planning and governance meetings.
  • Liaise with relevant Government stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate routinely with other peak bodies and relevant stakeholders.
  • Gather information on the sector development gaps and needs and share this with the DVNSW sector development team.
  • Collaborate with the DVNSW sector development team and other relevant stakeholders, supporting them to design tailored capacity building resources and activities that address identified gaps.
  • Manage one direct report, providing regular line management supervision and support to deliver on their work plan.

About you

This new role will suit candidates who are familiar with the DFV and/or Housing and Homelessness sector and keen to build the capacity of frontline service providers to design and deliver high quality supports for women and children escaping violence. You will bring strong project management, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills and well developed, analytical and communication skills. You will also have:

  • Experience in the DFV sector and experience in roles that include end to end project management
  • Tertiary education in a relevant discipline such as social science, community development, psychology etc.
  • A detailed understanding of the NSW Domestic and Family funding and policy context, along with a strong understanding of procurement, tender and grant processes
  • Experience establishing and managing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Ability to plan and prioritise in a fast-paced and demanding environment with strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Proven ability to work remotely and work independently to achieve work plan
  • Experience working in a culturally safe, sensitive and appropriate manner
  • Flexible and adaptable working style with the ability to at times work outside of core hours, and have the capacity to undertake travel across NSW to visit service providers
  • Willing to undertake a National Police Check and be fully vaccination against COVID-19 (as per government mandates)
