Project description

A commitment to Domestic & Family Violence (D&FV) work is core business for PWHC. As part of this commitment, we auspice the Nepean Blue Mountains Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service, Staying Home Leaving Violence Program and the Domestic & Family Violence Support Service.

The D&FV MUSTER Grant Project is an integrated service delivery system for the victims of D&FV. Clients referred to this project have experienced D&FV.  These Clients are not limited to intimate partner violence. They may also be Clients experiencing D&FV from other family members or carers.  They may also be Women who are in the contemplative stage of separating from an intimate partner.

  • Immediate emotional & practical support
  • Personal and home risk assessment
  • Information and support re court procedures - Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) & Family Court matters
  • Information on the impacts of D&FV for Women’s health and the health of their Children
  • Case management
  • Advocacy
  • Court Support and Group Work
  • Referrals to other appropriate internal and external support services as needed

Case Managers will be responsible for

  • Client case load
  • Group Work
  • Interagency Meetings and Networking
  • Influencing Systems Change

The D&FV Case Managers will maintain working partnerships with Penrith and St. Mary’s Police Local Area Commands, the auspiced Programs already based at Penrith Women’s Health Centre as well as any other external partners as required.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Women and Children experience improved safety in their lives and their awareness of D&FV is enhanced including the effects of D&FV experienced by Children
  • Women and Children involved in the Project feel safer in their homes
  • Women involved with the Project feel validated and supported with their D&FV experiences
  • Support is provided within the Local and Family Court systems
  • Police and other external Services with common Clients to this Program feel more supported in their work with D&FV incidences

Essential and Desirable Criteria

ESSENTIALS

  • High level understanding and commitment to a feminist, social justice analysis of Women’s health and issues of Domestic & Family Violence
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and/or professional development and/or field experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Women who are experiencing D&FV
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in case management of Women with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy
  • High level understanding of legal and court issues involving D&FV both Local Courts and Family Courts
  • High level understanding of lethality and comprehensive risk assessment and safety planning for Women separating from a violent family member
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills including conflict resolution, group facilitation and public speaking
  • Experience in program evaluation and report writing
  • Experience networking with multidisciplinary services and building relationships with them
  • Knowledge and understanding of other social issues affecting Women in Western Sydney
  • Computer and internet skills
  • Current driver’s licence and personal vehicle insurance

DESIRABLES

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a strengths based framework within the service management and with our Client groups
  • Experience in the Non Government Sector (NGO)
  • Demonstrated ability in community development and issues awareness campaigns
  • The ability to work in a team
  • Group Work
