About the Role

When talented people with purpose come together, we make a difference! YWCA Canberra is looking for a Trainer and Assessor to coordinate, mark assessments and deliver (if required) our She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management in our Education and Training Team.

We’re a diverse and highly skilled bunch, made up of trainers and assessors, business development and communication professionals, vocational education and training quality and compliance nerds, and early childhood education and care leaders.

We are dedicated to providing a dynamic, inclusive and effective training experience for all our students.

Reporting to the Education and Training Unit Coordinator, this highly autonomous role will draw on best-practice vocational education and training methods to support students undertaking the She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management.

The role is responsible for engaging expert external facilitators to deliver face-to-face classes and plays a support role to facilitators inside and outside the classroom. This includes administrative and logistical support, organising guest speakers for live panel discussions, and preparing training materials for classes.

Key responsibilities of the role also include:

  • Developing, delivering and marking assessments within the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015
  • Providing flexible mentoring and support for students – online and face-to-face
  • Proactively building a network of key stakeholders
  • Driving program evaluation and continuous improvement

About She Leads

The She Leads program is a leadership pathway for women, including female-identifying and non-binary people, who are looking to explore and develop their leadership potential.

Through the She Leads program, the next generation of women leaders, from all sectors and industries, are being equipped with the skills and confidence they need to further their potential.

The She Leads program includes the She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management, the She Leads Conference, the She Leads In-Conversation Series, the She Leads College Conference (for girls in years 11 and 12), the She Leads High Conference (for girls in years 9 and 10), and the She Leads Workshops.

About you

We're looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, articulate, experienced and organised trainer and assessor who is committed to delivering an outstanding student experience.

Essential skills, attributes and experience:

  • TAE40110/TAE40116 Certificate IV Training and Assessment or equivalent or superior academic qualification
  • BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management or equivalent or superior academic qualification
  • Recent industry experience in a leadership or management role
  • Training and assessment experience in vocational education training
  • Exceptional organisational skills and an ability to work autonomously
  • Commitment to empowering women and addressing gender inequality
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated self-awareness and emotional intelligence

The She Leads Diploma Trainer and Assessor role is offered at 30 hours per week, on a 12 month fixed term contract with the opportunity of extension after six months.
