About Yarraville Community Centre

Yarraville Community Centre (YCC) is a not-for-profit values-driven, Registered Training Organisation (RTO), neighbourhood house and a Learn Local provider. We deliver a broad range of services to individuals from diverse backgrounds, with a strong focus on supporting disadvantaged groups, families, youth, and newly arrived communities. YCC provides accredited and pre-accredited education through Skills First funding, ACFE and the AMEP and SEE programs for Learning for Employment (LfE) in Maribyrnong. We also run short courses, childcare services, a food relief program, and manage services across three sites in Yarraville and Footscray.

YCC is committed to inclusion, lifelong learning, and building stronger communities.

About the Role

This permanent full-time position reports directly to the CEO and plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth, safe and responsive delivery of programs and services across multiple sites. You will lead operations on the ground — not from behind a desk — maintaining facilities, supporting staff and programs, and engaging daily with community members.

You’ll oversee administration, facilities, IT, risk, volunteers and venue hire, while also supporting events and the activation of community spaces. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, you will strengthen systems and processes while ensuring they are practical, adaptable and responsive to the realities of a busy community centre.

What We Offer

  • Salary: $112,000 per annum + 12% Superannuation + Leave Loading + generous salary packaging options
  • Location: Based at Francis Street, Yarraville, with delivery of services across several venues
  • Meaningful Impact: Opportunity to make a real difference by supporting disadvantaged and diverse communities
  • Supportive Environment and collaborative workplace culture
  • Convenient Location: Easily accessible by public transport and onsite parking available

Key Responsibilities

  • Take a hands-on approach to managing daily operations across multiple sites, including facilities, maintenance, IT systems and venue hire
  • Ensure facilities are safe, welcoming and fit-for-purpose, actively supporting program delivery and community use
  • Lead, mentor and support administration staff and the Short Courses Coordinator in a fast-paced, people-focused environment
  • Coordinate and support volunteers, student placements and onboarding, fostering a connected and inclusive community culture
  • Ensure OH&S compliance while identifying and responding to risks in real time
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures and registers, balancing compliance with practical application
  • Support strategic planning, funding submissions and organisational reporting
  • Build strong relationships and represent YCC with community partners, stakeholders and local networks
  • Play a visible, active role in community programs, events and activation of centre spaces

What You Bring

  • Proven experience managing operations in a complex, fast-paced education or neighbourhood house setting
  • Strong, hands-on experience in facilities management, compliance, OH&S and risk
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels — from community members to partners and staff
  • A genuine connection to community and an understanding of its diversity and complexity
  • The ability to balance systems and structure with flexibility and real-world responsiveness
  •  A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to maintain momentum across competing priorities

You are a practical, adaptable and community minded leader who understands that community work is nuanced — not black and white. You are just as comfortable thinking strategically as you are rolling up your sleeves to solve problems on the ground.

You thrive in busy environments, bring people together, and understand how strong operations and well-managed spaces directly enable meaningful community programs and outcomes.
