About Us   

The Wurundjeri Woi-wurruing Cultural Heritage Corporation (Wurundjeri Corporation) is a Registered Aboriginal Party appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006. The Corporation holds statutory responsibilities for the protection and management of Aboriginal cultural heritage and Aboriginal intangible heritage on Wurundjeri Country. Additional functions of the corporation include, environmental land management, cross cultural education, traditional welcome to country and smoking ceremonies, research and cultural consultations.     

About the Role 

The Media and Communications Unit supports the function and mission of Wurundjeri Corporation in its role to promote, preserve, and protect Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Culture, Country, and cultural heritage. It does this through the elevation of Wurundjeri people and voices into the public realm – recording historical and contemporary stories, correcting matters on the public record, and engaging the public in discourse that is led by and centres Wurundjeri people and histories.  

Discourse on First Nations histories, dispossession, and colonisation are harmful to Wurundjeri people, so providing support and safety for community members who engage in media and communications activities is a one of the highest priorities for the Media and Communication unit. 

About You 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a media and communications role, with a proven track record in media, social media, and content management.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit high-quality content for various audiences and purposes.
  • Experience in developing and executing social media strategies and campaigns.
  • Knowledge or experience in working with First Nations Peoples and understanding their cultural and community contexts.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines autonomously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
