Your new role

The Orange Door is transforming the way people access support in times of need, bringing together specialist services, expert practitioners and a shared commitment to safety, wellbeing and empowerment.

We’re building a strong, connected team to support:

  • Women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence
  • People using violence who need support to change
  • Families seeking help with the care, development and wellbeing of infants, children and young people

By uniting Community Service Organisations (including Uniting), Aboriginal services, Family Safety Victoria (FSV), and the Department of Families, Fairness & Housing (DFFH), The Orange Door creates a single, accessible entry point for support — and we want passionate practitioners to join us.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, safe and effective responses to families when they need it most.

  • Be the first point of contact for people seeking help
  • Provide compassionate, informed advice and information
  • Conduct risk assessments and engage with clients to understand their needs
  • Work closely with partner agencies to create coordinated, client‑focused responses
  • Support improved outcomes for children, young people and families

Your skills and experience

One of the following:

  • One of the following:
  • Must be assessed to meet the mandatory minimum qualification requirement for specialist family violence roles - SEE HERE
  • Degree in Social Work or other qualification in family violence or related discipline that meets Australian Qualification Framework [AQF] Level 7 [Bachelor, Graduate Certificate or Masters degree];
  • or hold a diploma in a discipline related to family violence and be in the process of working towards a qualification that meets the MMQ; 
  • or have at least 2 years relevant professional experience and be in the process working towards a qualification that meets the MMQ;
  • or have been working in a specialist family violence role prior to July 2021.

Other Requirements:

  • Current Victorian Driver’s License.
