Women’s Housing Limited (WHL) is a community housing provider dedicated to advocating for the housing needs of women and children and contributing to the growth of affordable housing across Victoria. As a state-wide not-for-profit organisation, WHL provides stable, secure, and affordable housing to women at risk of homelessness.

Women and children represent a growing proportion of people experiencing housing stress. Groups particularly impacted include older women over 55 and women and children leaving situations of family violence.

WHL has a strong reputation for excellence in housing development, tenancy and property management, and the delivery of homelessness services.

Position Overview:

Tenancy Officer (Southwest Region) is responsible for delivering high-quality tenancy management and customer service to WHL renters. This role includes managing a diverse portfolio, and, using your expertise to ensure compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1997, minimise rent arrears, maintain accurate tenancy records, and proactively engaging with renters to support housing stability.

Working to make a real difference in people's lives, the role is a key point of contact for support agencies and stakeholders and requires the ability to work with renters with complex needs. This role operates with a high level of autonomy across multiple sites in the South West region. It requires strong self-management skills, with support available from the Mt Duneed and Melbourne teams as needed. The role also includes regular travel to Melbourne, at least monthly.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage a portfolio of tenancies and support renters to sustain long-term housing
  • Provide responsive, high-quality customer service, handling enquiries and resolving issues
  • Monitor rent accounts, reduce arrears, and set up realistic repayment plans
  • Prepare cases and represent WHL at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal
  • Undertake property inspections and work closely with WHL teams and WHL renters to ensure properties are maintained to a high standard.
  • Build strong relationships with support services and local partners across the SW region.
  • Keep accurate records and ensure compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1997

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in tenancy or property management (community housing highly regarded)
  • Confidence managing arrears and supporting renters to maintain their housing, including support complex tenancies.
  • Solid understanding of tenancy legislation and tribunal processes
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle challenging conversations
  • Ability to work independently, stay organised, and manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable using systems and Microsoft Office
