WHISE is a primary prevention and health promotion agency that works to see a future where all women in southern metropolitan Melbourne are healthy safe and thriving. We are front and center of work in our region to prevent violence against women, create gender equity, improve access and support for women’s sexual and reproductive needs and to promote women’s mental wellbeing across the Southern Metropolitan Region.

We work with government, not for profit agencies and community across 10 Local Government Areas to create real impact, and right now, we are looking for three Health Promotion Officers who are keen to play a role in creating a better future for women in our region.

We have three fixed term (12 month) contract for the Health Promotion Officer role at 0.6 FTE and offer flexible working arrangements with our office located in vibrant St Kilda.

These roles will support the implementation and delivery of the Women’s Health and Wellbeing Teams two regional strategies and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan. Working with and under the supervision of the Women’s Health and Wellbeing Leads to identify, advocate, and facilitate the delivery of activities through those involved in the strategies partnerships and WHISE partners; continuously improve capacity and capability of the partners on intersectional gender equity with a focus on one of the below portfolio areas held by the Leads of the Women’s Health and Wellbeing Team so that goals are achieved and, that women’s health in our region is improved;

  • Sexual and reproductive health
  • Prevention of gendered violence
  • Promotion of mental wellbeing

The role also provides business support to the organisation as required and will be expected to attend team meetings and activities to support their full engagement in the busy and dynamic work of WHISE.

About you

You will demonstrate a commitment to the Vision and Values of Women’s Health in the South East and have knowledge of gender equality and equity, intersectionality, and a gender transformative approach.

You hold a Tertiary Qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, International Development, Social or Health Science or equivalent and are passionate about wanting to play a role in achieving the mission of WHISE – to see all women in our region are safe, healthy and thriving.

You understand women’s health and wellbeing needs and the structural factors that can cause and maintain health inequities. You are a real team player with determination to roll up your sleeves, work collaboratively with others and have the want to learn and strengthen your skills and knowledge across women’s health.

In addition to this, you have excellent project management, organisational and time management skills, a proactive approach to work and can prioritise your tasks to support a busy Women’s Health and Wellbeing team.
