WestCASA is a community based not-for-profit sexual assault counselling service operating in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne for over 30 years.

WestCASA provides counselling, crisis response, advocacy, education and training and is located in Werribee with outreaches at Footscray, Melton, and the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre at Ravenhall.

WestCASA's mission is to promote the recovery of all people who have experienced sexual violence and to strive for a world free of sexual violence.

We are seeking a new, voluntary chairperson to join the WestCASA Board. We are a woman only board who support a feminist framework of operation and practice.

We are looking specifically for a person who can bring expertise in the following areas:

  • A sound understanding of gendered nature of family violence and sexual violence and its impact.
  • Liaising and interfacing with the CEO as the primary contact between Board and management
  • Able to establish collaborative practices in decision making processes.
  • Sound understanding of power dynamics practices which promote power sharing and an understanding of how this influences diversity inclusion.
  • Facilitating the effective functioning of the Board, including managing conduct, frequency and length of board meetings
  • Facilitating open and constructive communications amongst Board members and encouraging their contribution to Board deliberations
