About WestCASA

WestCASA is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has been providing trauma counselling, advocacy, crisis response, education and training for nearly 30 years across Melbourne’s western metropolitan region. We support women, men and young people (12+) who have experienced sexual assault, family violence and related trauma through an empowering, respectful and culturally sensitive therapeutic approach.

We operate from the Werribee Multidisciplinary Centre and the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), and coordinate the statewide CASA response for women exiting prison. WestCASA partners with the Gatehouse Centre, Victoria Police SOCIT, and Child Protection to ensure integrated support for survivors.

About the Role

The Team Leader – DPFC is responsible for leading and coordinating WestCASA’s counselling and support services within the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre. This includes managing intake and assessment, crisis intervention, counselling, group programs, waitlist coordination, and ensuring the quality and compliance of service delivery.

This role provides clinical leadership, supervision, and wellbeing support to the DPFC counselling team while maintaining a small counselling caseload. The Team Leader also collaborates closely with Corrections Victoria, Western Health, and other key agencies supporting women in custody.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Support.
  • Provide clinical supervision, debriefing, and performance reviews for Counsellor/Advocates.
  • Oversee day-to-day service delivery, ensuring compliance with all funding and quality requirements.
  • Support team wellbeing, workload balance, and professional development.
  • Intake and Service Coordination.
  • Manage intake operations, waitlists, and allocation of clients to counsellors.
  • Ensure consistent communication with clients and service providers.
  • Maintain oversight of complex and high-risk cases.
  • Counselling and Advocacy.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based counselling for women impacted by sexual assault and/or family violence.
  • Facilitate group programs and brief interventions to support recovery.
  • Provide advocacy and link clients to external supports as needed.
  • Reporting and Organisational Contribution.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
  • Participate in strategic and service planning, policy development, and quality improvement initiatives.

About You

  • Essential Qualifications and Experience.
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for membership with AHPRA, AASW, ACA, ARCAP or PACFA (or 10+ years of clinical experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in trauma counselling, crisis intervention, and working with complex PTSD.
  • Clinical leadership or supervisory experience within counselling or social services.
  • Strong understanding of sexual assault, family violence, and trauma in custodial settings.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, Working with Children Check, and National Police Check.
