About the role
WentWest is seeking a Specialist – Contracts to oversee contract governance and performance oversight across a portfolio of complex, high-value and high-risk commissioned health services.
This role is suited to an experienced contract professional who brings strong analytical capability and sound judgement. Operating as an individual contributor, the Specialist – Contracts supports the effective delivery of commissioned services in line with contractual, financial and performance expectations.
What you’ll do
- Oversee and support end-to-end contract governance across complex, high-value commissioned service portfolios, applying sound judgement to interpretation and lifecycle management
- Provide performance, compliance and risk oversight, using service, KPI and financial insights to identify issues, manage risk and drive improvement
- Partner with internal stakeholders across the organisation (including Program Leads, Finance, Procurement and Reporting) to enable coordinated delivery of contractual requirements
- Coordinate contract and performance discussions with providers, including sensitive, high-risk or escalated matters, and provide clear advice to support timely decisions
- Maintain high-quality contract records and reporting, ensuring accuracy, integrity and compliance across internal systems
- Apply specialist contract expertise to continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to enhancements in contract processes, templates, tools and ways of working
- Act as a technical resource within the team, sharing knowledge and providing guidance on contract interpretation, documentation and best practice
About you
You are an experienced contracts professional who operates confidently in complex environments and brings a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset. You are comfortable working with ambiguity and applying sound judgement to prioritise work, manage risk and resolve issues.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience (3–5 years) in contract management, commissioning, procurement or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of contract governance, performance oversight and risk management principles
- Proven experience interpreting and administering complex and high profile/value contracts and funding agreements
- Advanced analytical capability, with the ability to assess data and provide informed insights and recommendations
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience using contract management systems and data tools (e.g. Excel or similar platforms)
- A collaborative, adaptable and curious approach, with a strong commitment to shared outcomes
- Tertiary qualifications in health, social science, business or equivalent experience are welcomed. Experience in health or government-funded environments is desirable but not essential.

This is a 2-year fixed-term contract, with the potential for continuation dependent on funding. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current Working with Children check and National Police Check. Full Australian working rights are essential for this role
