About this Position

An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to drive major financial support for the organisation by cultivating and sustaining relationships with major donors, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations and government stakeholders. You will play a key role in integrating the philanthropy and partnerships strategy with overall organisational plans, overseeing budgets, tracking performance metrics, and providing leadership to the Fundraising team.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management; Major Donors, Foundations, Government and Corporates:

  • Design a growth strategy for major donors, grants and corporates in liaison with Head of Fundraising; including donor journeys, collateral, events and communications as necessary.
  • Manage your own portfolio of high value supporters and prospects, prioritising those with capacity to give over $50,000.
  • Work closely with the Fundraising and Programs teams to develop captivating proposals, pitches and presentations to obtain major gifts;
  • Represent the needs of major donors, foundations, government stakeholders and corporates in all organisation planning and communications, such as Wayside’s direct appeals, impact reports and annual report.
  • Ensure all gift agreements and receipts, including in-kind contributions, thanks-you’s, impact reports and formal recognitions, are delivered in a timely manner and according to donor preferences.
  • Ensure team members meet and exceed agreed objectives and targets by providing support, direction, coaching and feedback.

Planning, Administration and Reporting:

  • Ensure the major gift, grants and corporate growth strategy is integrated with the organisational strategic and business plans;
  • Oversee the major gift, foundations, grants and corporate partnership budget, including forecasting and review and expense management;
  • Oversee the major donor, foundations, government grants and corporate pipelines, including tracking and reporting of donors and partnerships through all phases of stewardship;
  • Design and implement strategic KPI metrics of income and activity to ensure growth and efficiency within the portfolio.
  • Provide regular reporting to Head of Fundraising, as needed for Board, Executive and organisational planning.
  • Maintain up-to-date relationships data in the CRM system and related databases, including all emails, phone calls, meetings, event attendance and other engagement;
  • Provide the Board of Directors and Executive Management Team with relevant information about donors and partners with whom they maintain relationships, keeping them up to date on donor activities;
  • Effectively collaborate with others to promote knowledge sharing, learning and development;
  • Perform other administrative duties as required by Head of Fundraising.

Leadership and Culture:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the team to effectively implement the operational plan.
  • In collaboration with Head of Fundraising, build a team culture that cultivates the Wayside values and role model those values in every interaction.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Fundraising and Marketing Manager to create a culture of operational excellence, efficiency, collaboration, and fun.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the wider marketing and fundraising team
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies in workflow processes
  • Measure and report performance of all campaigns and assess against objectives (ROIs and KPIs)
  • Use data and analytics to inform strategy and planning.

Other:

  • Any other duties as directed by the Manager or equivalent role
  • Undertake training as required and directed
  • Practice and promote appropriate self-care at an individual, team, and organisation-wide level.

Work Health and Safety:

  • Accountable for complying with legislation and all Wayside WHS policies/procedures and instructions, reporting any hazards or safety issues to your manager, and performing all tasks in a manner that guards against risk to self and others within the workplace.
  • Undertake risk assessment and safety plans in collaboration with People and Culture

About you

  • Track record in securing six and seven figure charitable gifts.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a strategic fundraising leadership role, with proven ability to set and achieve personal KPIs and coach others to achieve KPIs.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with demonstrated experience fostering relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and confidence in preparing and delivering compelling presentations, pitches, proposals and funding applications
  • Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to analyse and prepare budgets and forecasts
  • Time management, analytic and problem-solving skills and the ability manage multiple projects with competing timelines
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Salesforce
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and on an independent basis
  • Passion to make a positive impact on the community and a willingness to work within the Wayside ethos, support its values and advance its mission; and
  • Willingness to work within and promote the importance of Wayside’s WHS policies and procedures.
