About the role

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will play a key role in supporting best-practice governance, policy development and corporate planning across VALS. You will help coordinate governance processes, maintain registers and documentation, support reporting to Executive and Board forums, and contribute to policies and planning frameworks that align with VALS' strategic priorities.

What you'll be doing

  • Support Board and Executive governance processes, including registers, calendars, templates and briefing materials
  • Coordinate governance actions and help ensure timely, accurate information flow
  • Develop, review and maintain policies, procedures and related registers
  • Research legislation, standards and sector requirements to support compliance and good governance Coordinate annual corporate planning and contribute to performance monitoring and reporting
  • Prepare clear reports, papers and practical tools that improve planning, accountability and transparency
  • Work collaboratively across teams to support consultation, implementation and continuous improvement

What you'll bring

  • Experience in governance, policy, compliance, planning or a similar role
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare clear and well-structured documents
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confidence working independently while building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • A collaborative, respectful approach and commitment to working in a culturally safe environment
  • Alignment with Aboriginal community control, social justice and self-determination
  • Tertiary qualifications in public administration, governance, policy, planning or a related field, or equivalent experience

Mandatory requirements: Employee Working with Children Check, Victorian Driver's Licence, National Criminal History Check and valid Australian work rights.
