The Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) is seeking an experienced Facilities, Assets & Fleet Manager to lead the systems, spaces and services that support our teams across Victoria. This is a key operational leadership role, ensuring our offices, vehicles and front-of-house services are safe, efficient, culturally welcoming and fit for purpose.

About VALS

The Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation and the only specialist legal service in Victoria for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. For over 50 years, VALS has delivered culturally safe legal and community justice services across criminal, family, civil and human rights law.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will lead the delivery of facilities, asset and fleet management across multiple VALS sites, along with reception services.

You will be responsible for ensuring environments are safe, compliant and welcoming, while also strengthening systems, processes and service delivery to support organisational growth.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Overseeing day-to-day facilities operations across multiple sites, ensuring spaces are safe, functional and well maintained
  • Managing leases, service providers and maintenance contracts to deliver consistent and reliable outcomes
  • Planning and delivering asset management and capital improvement initiatives
  • Managing the organisation's vehicle fleet, including procurement, maintenance, safety and reporting
  • Leading reception services to ensure culturally safe, professional and consistent client experiences
  • Supporting and guiding the Fleet & Administration Officer and reception team to deliver high-quality services
  • Ensuring compliance with OH&S, accessibility, emergency management and risk requirements
  • Monitoring budgets and preparing clear, accurate reports for senior leadership
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery

What You Bring

  • Experience delivering facilities, asset or fleet management outcomes in a medium to large organisation
  • Ability to coordinate services and maintain consistency across multiple locations
  • Sound understanding of workplace safety, compliance and building operations
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts and external providers to achieve value and reliability
  • Confidence leading operational teams and supporting staff performance and development
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with a focus on practical outcomes

Desirable:

  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, legal or community services environment
  • Experience in procurement, asset lifecycle management or capital works projects
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence
