About the Role

The UTS Business School is currently seeking to fill an exciting newly created position of Policy and Research Project Manager for a full-time, fixed-term contract. The Policy and Research Project Manager will join a small innovative team led by Professor Anne Summers. Her recent report The Choice, on the choices faced between women experiencing domestic violence, had a major influence on the recent federal budget. An entire episode of Q&A was devoted to discussing it, and the report was widely praised and discussed for its original contribution to our knowledge about domestic violence.

Her two current projects will continue her unique approach to research into domestic violence, by focussing on previously unpublished data and searching for findings that can can have a positive impact on federal government policy. This is an exciting project and will appeal to a person who enjoys working on the coalface of innovation and previously untested ideas.

As Policy and Research Project Manager you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of a multi-year program of research. The role will entail managing several large and diverse projects simultaneously, working with other creative researchers, taking part in high level meetings with policy makers and politicians and helping ensure the projects are delivered on time and on budget.

As the Policy and Research Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic support and advice to Professor Summers and her research team in the areas of policy and strategy.
  • Coordinating and liaising with internal and external partners, including policy makers, other academics, thought leaders and people engaged in politics.
  • Monitoring and escalating project performance and compliance issues.
  • Providing support in producing, coordinating and organising a range of documentations, including complex information, correspondence, data and forms and memos and other reporting tools.
  • Undertake a diverse range of tasks to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the policy and research program’s, including budget and financial reporting.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have:

  1. Strong strategic planning and project management skills with demonstrated experience in proactively managing, delivering and monitoring large scale research and/or stakeholder projects and activities.
  2. Highly developed time management, organisational and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and prioritise workload in a fast-moving environment with competing deadlines.
  3. A capacity for systematic thinking and ability to analyse information and situations, identify issues, assess impacts and propose options/recommendations based on sound rationale.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as preparing correspondence, reports and presentations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse small team, all of whom are engaged in the achievement of high-quality, timely and accurate outcomes.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $108,352 to $123,401 pa (HEW 8)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time, and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis of 30 months.
